Autumn and Winter Haul: What I’m Loving This Month

Fashion

I’m trying not to spend too much money on clothes but I have been stocking up on some basics – there are some lovely plain jumpers in Primark right now, but with so many cute dresses available I couldn’t resist! I don’t usually shop at Weird Fish but I fell in love with this Starshine Printed Jersey Dress – it’s perfect for work but light and casual enough to wear at the weekends too.

I am absolutely obsessed with pinafore dresses right now; I got this gorgeous black suede dress from Boohoo (hurry, though, there aren’t many left!). I also picked up these very on-trend pyjama bottoms that I matched with a plain black PJ top from Primark – these come from stunning nightwear brand Hunkemoller.

Beauty

Aside from mascara, foundation is my favourite beauty staple. After suffering with bad skin as a teenager, I like to have a good coverage and therefore I spend a lot of time researching new bases. I recently came across the Make Up Forever Water Blend & Body Foundation that I picked up from online beauty store Klip Shop. As it’s a water based product, it gives you a dewy glow, but is blendable so that you can gain your desired coverage. My shade is Y305 Soft Beige, perfect for light skin – I originally tried the Y215 Yellow Albaster but it was WAY too light for my skintone. They have a good range of shades but I think this is more suited to the warmer months.

I was lucky enough to be sent a bottle of Power Dry Me by Design.Me and IT IS INCREDIBLE. I don’t usually use many hair products but I’ve used it after every wash. It helps to dry your hair faster (and therefore shortening the amount of heat on your hair) and helps to style. For the first time in forever I’ve been able to style my hair just using a hairdryer, giving me lovely bouncy, healthy looking waves. I am converted and very excited to try some other products from this brand. Oh, and I’m also very pleased with this Flawless Eyeliner that has excellent staying-power.

Books

Autumn is one of my favourite times to read. It’s dark outside, it’s probably raining and it’s the spookiest time of the year! For the past month I have become addicted to reading the novels of Laura Purcell – she writes Victorian Gothic fiction stories with a modern twist! Make sure you check out The Silent Companions and her newest novel, The Corset. I am eagerly awaiting her next release, as she’s been signed with Bloomsbury Raven (my new favourite publisher) for two more books! If you enjoy Gothic fiction I’d love to hear any recommendations to fill my Purcell-shaped-hole.

Drinks

I’m currently researching and tasting drinks ready for my Christmas Gift Guides – for lots of winter warming drink inspiration head over to The Bottle Club’s fab guide. I’ve just ordered my first-ever bottle of Baileys Pumpkin Spice!
