Beauty: The New Feel Unique Pick ‘n’ Mix!

feel unique pick n mix review

What’s this, a new pick ‘n’ mix for BEAUTY PRODUCTS?! The second the email from Feel Unique dropped I knew I had to try it. My favourite sweet treat is a pick ‘n’ mix, and after cancelling my Birchbox subscription, I’ve been missing my monthly beauty fix.

If you haven’t heard, Feel Unique have launched a new sample service, Pick ‘n’ Mix. You can choose up to 5 samples from an extensive range of hundreds of beauty products for just £3.95 (the price of postage). Amazing, right?!

When I first glanced at the products available I was swayed by the inclusion of some of the Benefit brows range. I’ve been wanting to try the Goof Proof Brow Pencil for a while now, but I didn’t want to shell out the price of a full one in case I didn’t like it. So, when I saw there was a sample available (and in the darkest shade – YES) I popped it straight into my basket, excited about what other products I could try.

One thing I noticed was that there is quite a range between sample sizes; some are pretty tiny (a small packet) and others are pretty large, it’s worth noting the sizes of the samples to make sure you get your money’s worth, though I noticed some samples don’t say what size they are so you might just have to take a gamble.

Here’s what I chose:

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil (6) / Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Gel Mask / La Roche-Posay Rosaliac CC Creme / Phyto Paris Repairing Shampoo / Xen-Tan Fresh Tanning Mousse

Pretty damn good, right? There are some seriously impressive brands in the sample list; there were literally hundreds of products I’ve never tried. I went for the Elemis Tr-Enzyme Resurfacing Gel Mask because my local spa uses those products and I paid a mighty price for a Tri-Enzyme Facial before my wedding – this mask was essentially free and my face feels amazing and completely refreshed (I used it just before sitting down to write this post).

I use the everyday moisturiser by La Roche-Posay so I’m really excited about trying out the CC creme, particularly as I’m trying to make my foundations last, and I’m always happy to try a new fake tan. The Xen-Tan mousse is the largest sample of the 5, a full 5o ml of product (compared to 3ml of the La Roche-Posay). This just goes to show how it’s important to shop around when looking at the samples, a tiny packet of self tan wouldn’t be of use to anyone.

I finished off my pick ‘n’ mix with a repairing shampoo from Phyto Paris, as after having hair extensions in for a while, my hair is a little damaged and I thought it would do with some TLC. Plus, I love trying out French brands, the quality is always top-notch.

Overall, I am really, really impressed with my Feel Unique Pick ‘n Mix experience. Compared to the prices of most beauty boxes, £3.95 for 5 samples is a serious bargain. The bonus is that you get to choose whatever you want, so you don’t get any disappointing surprises. You can only use this service once a month so it’s no different to your usual monthly beauty boxes, and in my opinion, Feel Unique are now at the top of the monthly beauty box game.
