Here at A Literary Cocktail I like to celebrate most special occasions with a tipple or two; we all love to raise a glass of champagne on anniversaries or to receive a bottle of our favourite gin at Christmas, and Valentine’s Day is no different.
There are lots of generic Valentine’s Day gift guides out there so I thought I’d do what I do best and give you all some gift ideas for the drink lover in your life including some new products and some favourites. Alternatively, all of the products mentioned in this guide would be ideal to purchase to drink together as part of a meal or for a special evening in together. This is part one of two, so keep an eye out for the next installment of my Boozy Valentines’s Day Gift Guide, and maybe send this to your partner as a rather non subtle hint.
Personalised Bottles From Il Gusto
If you’re looking for something special, then you can’t go wrong with a personlised gift. Il Gusto have a wide selection of personalised bottles; you can choose your preferred spirit, bottle shape and handwritten message. I was sent a bottle of their Blood Orange Vodka so I can show you how the message would look, but you could include anything you like – I think this makes for a perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
Wine Subscription with Le Petit Ballon
If you’re a regular reader of A Literary Cocktail then you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Le Petit Ballon, a Parisian wine subscription company who also have a home in the UK. A wonderful gift for any wine lover would be one of Le Petit Ballon’s subscriptions; starting at £74.70 for three months, the recipient will be sent two specially selected bottles of French wine, tasting notes, a magazine and discount on further bottles from the online shop.
Every box I have received has been incredible; the wine is delicious and the magazine genuinely fun and interesting. If you are on a budget and both you and your partner love wine, then why not go halves on the price and buy yourselves a subscription to share? Wine is best shared – unfortunately my husband doesn’t feel quite the same way about wine as I do so I have to drink it all by myself….
Raise A Glass With Aldi’s Valentine’s Day Wine Range
I think these days a lot of us are staying in rather than going out; most of us are trying to save money, it’s cold and with such a great range of wine available from supermarkets, why spend more? Whether you start the day with a Champagne breakfast in bed or end it with a romantic candlelit meal, spoil your loved one with one of Aldi’s great value, top quality tipples. Available online and in-store, the price-range for these bottles are incredibly affordable. We’ll be enjoying this bottle of Champagne (just £10.99) and I would be very happy to receive this bottle of Chardonnay (£7.99) from my husband.
A Pretty Pink Gin by Gordon’s
This is probably one to request if you’re a lover of all things pink. This new gin from Gordon’s is very popular with women due to it’s pretty bottle and fruity flavour. If you like Brockmans Gin, you’ll like this one – it is delicate, sweet and fruity with strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant. I like to make this gin extra special by mixing up a Gordon’s Pink Spritz cocktail – a large wine glass filled with ice, 50ml Gordon’s Pink, 50ml lemonade and 25ml prosecco – delish!
A unique bottle of Scottish Rock Rose Gin
My first thought when I discovered Rock Rose Gin was that it looks beautiful, and this ceramic bottle makes it a truly special gift. Rock Rose Gin hails from the wilderness of the far North of Scotland (Caithness) where the botanicals are hand foraged on the cliffs and forest to create a truly unique gin. The gin gets its name from the distillery’s first botanical forage along the cliffs of Caithness, where the husband and wife team who run the distillery were introduced to the Rhodiola rosea (a rose in the rocks) and the gin uses this ‘Rock Rose’ and a blend of local and traditional botanicals to create a unique taste from the Highlands of Scotland.
Rock Rose have also collaborated with Tipsy Unicorn Sweets to create some G&T jellies!
I hope this boozy Valentine’s Day gift guide has given you some ideas for gifts and drinks to celebrate with – I’d love to hear if you try any of these!
