Ahh, cheese and wine. How I love thee.
I have just got back from a wonderful weekend in the city of Lille in France for my hen do, and as I was so impressed with one of the restaurants we visited, I wanted to write a review on here.
BiBoViNo is a lovely cheese and wine bar situated in the Old Town part of Lille, a stunning area lined with boutique shops, cafes and cobbled streets. We stumbled across BiBoViNo whilst exploring, and feeling a little peckish, we thought what better way to enjoy France than to lunch on nothing but cheese and wine??
We were greeted by a lovely young man who apologised for not having any tables free outside (it was BOILING and there wasn’t a spare outdoor seat anywhere nearby). He took us upstairs to a table large enough to fit the three of us and explained that BiBoViNo looks for natural, honest wines, and pointed to the purple walls that were lined with photographs of the creators of the different wines on offer. This was a lovely personal touch and it was great fun finding the face behind our chosen wines.
As there was a cheeseboard on offer, that’s what we went for. I am a huge fan of cheese and I knew I had to have a cheeseboard while I was in France. I had one in Paris a couple of years ago and it was divine, so I knew this would probably be just as good.
As you can see, the cheese board was very generous, and we also got some huge baskets of bread to go along with it. I can safely say that pretty much all of our plates were empty by the end of our lunch, all of the cheeses were really high quality, delicious and fresh. If you’re a fan of blue cheese and you’re in Lille, you HAVE to visit BiBoViNo – we all agreed that it was the best blue cheese we’d ever tried.
We had an AMAZING time at BiBoViNo and everything tasted incredible. If you visit Lille, I highly recommend you try this place out.
