If you know me at all then you’ll know I’m partial to a cocktail or too, and I love a bit of fizz! So when I was invited to attend Epernay Champagne & Cocktail bar in Leeds to check out their new drinks menu, I couldn’t resist!
Epernay is launching its new summer menu in the next few weeks, with cocktails designed to help you ‘Escape the City’.
When I walked into Epernay I was in awe; it’s just the type of place I like to drink: dimmed lights, bottles of champagne everywhere and a very attractive back bar. After a glass of fizz and a look around, it was time to start sampling the menu!
The first cocktail we tried was Blue Grass Smash, an unusual, refreshing cocktail made with Zubrowka Vodka (the one with the grass inside the bottle), blueberry syrup and mint leaves. It’s pretty tangy, and very, very delicious. We had some nibbles to go with our cocktails, including some cute little salad spoons.
Next up was Pink Koko, a rum based cocktail perfect for parties, and an improvement on traditional cocktails like Sex on the Beach. This was also divine. We had something a little sweeter to go along with this cocktail, some delicious little fruity cakes that reminded me of sweet yorkshire puddings!
I was feeling a little bit tipsy by this point, but soon it was time for our last cocktail (sad face), The Morning After. Created to be the ideal ‘hair of the dog’, The Morning After is made up of Apricot Briotte, Portobello Gin and fresh grapefruit. It’s kind of like a bucks fizz, but less juicy. This would definitely sort you out after a long, hard night on the town.
I was incredibly impressed by every part of my visit to Epernay Champagne & Cocktail bar – not only were the drinks and nibbles A-MAZING, all of the staff were really lovely and the whole bar has a really relaxed atmosphere. Epernay want their bar to be the destination for the busy people of Leeds to ‘Escape the City’, and with cocktails as good as this, I think it will be.
