If you’re currently planning a wedding, you’ll know how expensive it can be. I’m all for doing it yourself, so here are five easy DIY wedding ideas for you to try!
Instead of hiring a DJ… do it yourself!
Hiring a DJ can be costly, especially on top of an already-insanely-expensive wedding, so why not do it yourself? All you need to do is create your own playlist with enough songs to last the night on your iPod or a similar music player. You can either have the songs played randomly, create the playlist in a particular order or ask one of your friends to be the resident DJ for the night. To make it super easy, you could use some Panasonic Wireless Speakers so you can pretty much play anything you want at any time you want (meaning, no cringey songs).
Decorate the venue yourself
If you’re a bit creative or fancy setting up the venue for yourself, then do it! You can get so many affordable wedding accessories online now that you can easily decorate your venue by yourself, on a budget or by making your own. Try online shops such as Etsy, Notonthehighstreet and good ol’ eBay for wedding supplies. I have bought the majority of my own from Ginger Ray who sell the cutest vintage-inspired party and wedding supplies. Check out these rose-gold pastel wedding accessories, I guarantee you’ll be adding tissue paper pom poms to your cart even if you’re not engaged.
Bake your own cake
Why not bake your own cake? Wedding cakes can be very pricey, and if you want to add a personal touch to your big day, you can’t do much better than baking your own cake. If you aren’t sure about testing your baking skills so close to the wedding, you could always ask your guests to join in and have a wedding cake buffet, like I’m planning to.
Create your own flower bouquet
Flower bouquets are another thing that cost more than they should, simply because they are a wedding accessory. Why not make your own? Ask a friend for some help and use in-season flowers; take a short floristry course or visit Pinterest for some inspiration.
Make your own invites
If you’re quite crafty you could always make your own wedding invites and RSVP cards. Either create them from scratch, or design them online and get them printed on some high quality paper or card. This way your invites will be truly original and you’ll also save a fair amount of money that can be spent elsewhere (read: champagne).
