Getting married is a pretty exciting part of anyone’s life. We spend months and months planning it to perfection. But the honeymoon is often the first time the two of you truly get to spend some quality time alone. You want the destination to fulfil all your dreams of a perfect life together so it has to be heavenly. Here are just a few of the wonderful honeymoon hotspots you can choose from:

Rome

Rome is perfect for a city-based honeymoon (and this is where my husband and I spent ours). The restaurants in town provide incredible Italian food and intimate tables for two. Of course, there are plenty of sights and attractions to coax you from your hotel room too. Some of the world’s most iconic buildings and works of art can be found here. Much of it is close enough to walk to. So take your partner’s hand and enjoy a romantic stroll through the cobbled streets of Rome.

The Maldives

These beautiful coral islands provide beaches galore. Gorgeous weather and sandy shores make this the ideal beach-lovers’ paradise. There are plenty of Maldives honeymoon packages to choose from. You might want to include some snorkelling or maybe a few spa treatments while you’re here. The accommodation is just as tropical, and there are some very romantic choices for you both. Just imagine the white sands between your toes and the arm of your loved one around your waist. Perfect.

Cruise

A cruise ship is the ultimate in luxurious travel. The food is amazing and can be found twenty-four hours a day. As well as several restaurant choices, you’ll have several choices for your entertainment in the evening as well. An intimate piano bar, jazz band, nightclub, or a show spectacular? Some ships come with rock climbing walls, several pools and an ice-skating rink! Overeaten? Don’t panic. There will be an onboard gym you can use, or slip next door for a sauna or spa. Heavenly.

Aspen

For a winter bride, a ski holiday sounds perfect. Aspen is one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the world. It has become very popular with honeymooners. This is thanks to its romantic cabins and hotel accommodation as well as the variety of activities couples can do. Best of all, it means you don’t have to wait to celebrate your marriage. Why choose winter sun when you can zoom down the slopes and then snuggle up with a hot cup of cocoa in front of the fire?

Paris

If you don’t want to travel too far then why not head to Paris on the train? It’s quick and easy. That means you could travel to your honeymoon hotel on the same evening as your wedding. Of course, Paris is considered the most romantic city in the world, so you can’t go wrong! Check out the Eiffel Tower, eat the world’s best cuisine, and wake up to warmed croissants for breakfast. It might also be ideal if you can only afford to take a quick honeymoon right now. Be home in time for tea (if you really have to be). Congratulations!
