How to save big on your car budget

Let’s face it, driving can be expensive. From taking lessons and passing your test, to insurance, repairs and tax – and that’s without considering the cost of the car!

I’m always looking for ways to save money, and as my husband and I will soon be looking into buying our own car, I’ve teamed up with KAP Motors to help you save big on your car budget.

Buy a use car instead of a new car

New cars can cost an incredible amount; do you really need a brand new one? Used cars doesn’t necessarily mean ‘old’ and you can pick up a great vehicle for a fraction of the price. A used car is a smart choice if you just want something to get you from A-B – ideal for new drivers like myself.

Get your car serviced regularly

It’s simple, really: regular services will ensure that any small issues can be resolved before they turn into bigger problems. Cars require a different type of maintenance during summer and winter – but keeping on top of it will save you money in the long run. Neglected vehicle care almost always means much higher costs down the line in the form of more extensive repairs or lost resale value. You can book for a full service at KAP Brighton if you’re in the area, or look for your local garage.

Stay safe while driving

Staying safe while driving is a sure way to make sure you keep costs down. If you can avoid having to pay for unnecessary repairs or insurance costs, you’ll find driving much more affordable. Pay attention to other drivers, never drive if you’re feeling tired and frequently check your tyres and headlights for any sign of damage. If you do have any issues, get them seen to immediately by a professional and never ignore a problem; it won’t go away and it will cost more down the line.
