I don’t know about you, but problem skin is always an issue for me throughout winter. My usually-combination skin turns dry and I break out the minute the clocks go back.
I’m also usually a fake tan infused moisturiser addict, but recently it’s been so cold that even getting undressed to apply it seems impossible, so unfortunately this has been neglected of late. I’ve definitely got a Snow White thing going on right now…
Something I can take care of without much effort, though, is my facial skincare routine. As I said, my skin gets dry over winter and this results in extra breakouts as my skin adjusts to the cold weather.
I recently came across the idea of using hyaluronic acid to improve problem winter skin. Hydraulic acid is pretty much the newest ‘hottest thing in beauty’, but unlike a lot of hyped products, hydraulic acid actually has a lot of health benefits.
Researchers have discovered that hyaluronic acid is effective at increasing skin moisture, improving plumpness and smoothing signs of wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid can be found in serums, which work to hydrate, firm and lift the skin.
I have been using Hollyberry Cosmetics‘ Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C Serum* (£11.99) for the past couple of weeks and honestly I can already tell the difference. I use it before bed every night, after cleansing and before moisturiser. Since I began using it my face feels cleaner, smoother, and my breakouts have reduced. My face retains much more moisture when I use this serum, which is important in keeping spots at bay. You’re supposed to use it morning and night, so if you use it properly your results will probably be even better than mine!
The serum is also incorporated with antioxidant-rich Vitamin C, which works to combat wrinkles and skin dryness. New research has even gone on to argue that Vitamin C can reverse DNA damage and prevents the consequences of long-term sun exposure (and we all know how serious that is for our skin).
I am impressed with this product and I will continue to use it over the winter months. If I find it helps my overall skin I can see myself continuing to use this into the summer too!
Have you used a product incorporating hyaluronic acid? What do you use to combat winter skin?
