Plotting a Wedding to Suit You and Your Partner

Everyone’s wedding day is special and unique, especially for them. But if you want to take it to the next level, there are ways you can make your ceremony and reception even more representative of who you are.

There are a variety of subtle ways you can make this possible. However, considering you’re paying so much already, why not go all out and transform the bash from a wedding into the wedding? Here are some ways to do that.

How the Venue Looks

Regardless of whether the venue is large or small, you can decorate the area with items and ideas that scream you. This can include references to your favourite books or movies, photographs from your travels or your best days out, or even showing how the two of you have grown through the years and become who you are today.

In a more general sense, you can consider the type of chairs, hanging decorations, layout, and more. If you pine for the simplicity of earlier generations, a 50s, 60s, 80s, or 70s theme is easy to prepare, while those who are focused on looking to the future have a treasure trove of ideas to dip into.

What to Dance To

Everyone has a favourite band or song that they need to hear at their wedding, and the music is one of the easiest ways to show off exactly who you are.

You can do this by providing the wedding DJ with a playlist of songs that represent the both of you, or you can bring in a wedding band to play the most bopping tunes of your youth and beyond. From indie to rock ‘n’ roll, with a sprinkling of soul now and then, there are plenty of ways to get your passions out there.

Food and Drink

Any wedding needs food and drink, but rather than betray yourselves by electing for a sit-down meal that isn’t you at all, consider other options. For travellers, samples of the most delicious foods you’ve sampled on your adventures is an excellent alternative option. Likewise, if you’re trying to keep things casual (or as casual as a wedding can be), then a buffet always goes down a treat.

You’ll also need something to drink. To ensure you don’t run out of booze, you can work with breweries nearby to keep the drinks and the fun flowing. Some couples also pick speciality cocktails for the guests to try, even if they aren’t on the ‘normal’ menu.

Special Additions

When deciding on any unique additions, consider what makes you, well, you. There are plenty of ways you can inject your personality further into your big day, whether that’s through a cheeky First Dance routine, a performance by a local artist or musician, or whatever you feel would make your day stand out among everyone else’s.

Your Day

A wedding day is your day, and no one else’s. Because of this, you get free reign over what you want to be included and what you don’t. The closer you keep it to your personality, the more enjoyable it will be for you, your spouse, and everyone who adores you.
