Stay Alert – How To Stay Safe While Driving

We all know it’s important to stay safe on the road, whether you’re driving or a pedestrian. But, in these busy times we are easily distracted and sometimes we don’t act as safely as we could do. It’s always good to have a refresher on issues as important as car safety, so in collaboration with Jet Wheel Tyre I’ve compiled some tips to help you stay alert and stay safe while driving.

Stay focused on driving

Sounds simple, but we are so easily distracted by our mobile phones (though it is illegal to use your phone while driving in the UK), changing the radio, talking to passengers or thinking about what we have to do that day – to avoid accidents, focus on the road.

Be aware of other drivers

Similarly, it’s important to keep an eye on other drivers, and to be on the defensive. Though we can ensure we are driving safely, unfortunately we cannot control the actions of others and so it’s vital to be aware of your surroundings.

Regularly check your tyres

Checking your tyres for wear and tear, and ensuring you have the correct air pressure in your tyres is essential – if your tyres aren’t up to scratch, then you are more likely to run into trouble on the road. If you have a long journey ahead, or your current tyres are old, you can find car tyres from places like Jet Wheel Tyre.

Check your headlights

Like your tyres, it’s incredibly important that your headlights are in working order, as if other vehicles or pedestrians cannot see you, then you are much more likely to end up in an accident. If they need replacing, replace them in pairs as uneven light quality can be distracting to you and oncoming traffic.

By having giving your car regular check-ups, and ensuring you are clear and focused when driving, you should be able to stay safe while driving. Prevention is usually the best course of action, so make sure your car is in its best condition before heading out, particularly in winter.
