Life: The Best TV Shows to Binge-Watch

best tv shows to binge-watch this winter 2015

Over the winter months I’m likely to be found huddled under a blanket in my living room, sipping mulled wine and avoiding the outside world.

As I’m spending so much time inside, I’m also watching a lot of television. I’m lucky enough to have both Netflix and Now TV so I have a lot of shows to choose from. With so much choice, though, it can be hard to decide what to watch and I frequently find myself trawling through the options before giving up and staring at the wall. Not the best use of my time.

So, if you are anything like me (I hope not) and you’d love some inspiration for the best TV shows to binge-watch this winter, then I present to you, ‘The Best TV Shows to Binge-Watch This Winter 2015!’

Note: All of the following shows are best-enjoyed with a bottle of wine and a cheese board. Just saying.

The Leftovers

I’ve gushed about The Leftovers before, because it is the best thing on TV right now. Created by the co-creator of Lost, The Leftovers is full of mystery, suspense, intrigue and engaging characters (they’re awfully attractive, too. Looking at you Liv Tyler and Justin Theroux – my god, that arched eyebrow…sorry I got distracted). The finale of Season 2 has just aired in the US so the Christmas holidays would be the perfect time to binge-watch the whole thing.

Wayward Pines

Wayward Pines stars Matt Dillon and has a definite Twin Peaks feel to it. One day, Ethan Burke, a US Secret Service agent wakes up to find himself in Wayward Pines, a small quaint town where nothing is quite what it seems. Why is he there? And why can’t he leave? SO GOOD. I would watch this series in one go if I didn’t have to go to work and stuff…

Gossip Girl

Oh Gossip Girl, how I miss thee.

Gossip Girl is the ultimate girl-show and if you have not seen it then I demand you do immediately. The whole thing is currently on Netflix. Bringing me to…

Pretty Little Liars

pretty little liars

I found Pretty Little Liars soon after Gossip Girl came to an end, and it replaced the Gossip Girl-shaped-hole in my heart. Yes, it’s a little cheesy, the acting is sometimes questionable and a lot of it doesn’t make sense but MYSTERY! BITCH FIGHTS! MURDER! OBSESSION! This show is addictive, fun, and it’s the most popular teen show in the US for a reason. The ‘pretty’ stars are pretty damn famous now because of it too.

Mr Robot

I had an up-and-down relationship with this as I found it a little boring in the middle of the season, but once it picks up, IT PICKS UP. Heavily influenced by Fight Club, this show comes into its own and will have you hooked. The season has recently ended so this is an easy binge-watch.

The Muppets

muppets

The latest Muppets show is the best thing they’ve done since A Muppet Christmas Carol (which is the best Christmas film ever, obvs) so it is really worth watching. Based on the concept of Miss Piggy having her own late night show, it makes you wonder why they didn’t think of this years ago. Hilarious fun.

Any other suggestions for TV shows to binge-watch this winter?
