The Friday Five: 4 December 2015

the friday five

Wow, can it be December already?! My tree is up, I’ve started buying presents and I’ve stocked up on mulled wine; it’s officially the run-up to Christmas!

I’m very excited to be able to bring you the first ever December Friday Five, so without further ado, here are five things A Literary Cocktail has been loving this month.

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

cosmos tv show

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey has become my Sunday night TV staple. It’s a documentary series that ‘explores how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time.’ Presented by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the show feels like stepping into a living museum taking us on a journey throughout the universe in the “Ship of the Imagination”.

The show has been critically praised and I have to say it is the best astrophysics show I have ever seen. I grew up watching the BBC’s The Planets and I’ve always been interested in theories of space and time. This show is perfect viewing for anyone with an interest in our world.

You might have heard of this before, but if not – you’re welcome. Rainy Mood plays the sounds of the rain so you can look forlornly out of the window even if it’s sunny.

Black Friday treats

Even though I banned myself from buying anything on Black Friday, I rebelled and treated myself to a beauty haul. I didn’t go mad, though. I bought a gorgeous Benefit Cosmetics Selection Box, a bottle of The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil, Agent Provocateur Eau de Parfum and a new storage box to finally organise my make up products (they’re definitely not scattered on the floor…nope…)

Blogging and my new header!

A Literary Cocktail blog

This probably seems like a strange addition, but I’ve really been enjoying writing and blogging recently. Sometimes when you write all day for a living it can be a bit of a chore to do it again at home, but I have really been enjoying it recently and I am excited about improving my blog and updating it more regularly from now on.

My cat, Alice

This adorable fluff-ball is my pride and joy, and she even has her own little place on my blog’s header (see above).
