As we come to the end of another year, we’ve experienced both negative and positive times. Still, as with the end of every year, we all become a bit more reflective about what we have done up to this point, and we’re thinking ahead to next year already. When we think about how well we’ve done in the previous year and how strong we’ve come out on the other side, it’s important to remember that we should be kind to ourselves. It’s not always easy to get through the trials and tribulations that we face in everyday life. So if you are one of those people that are hoping for another year of great things, or hoping that your next year will be better than this one read on to find out how you can make plans for next year and feel positive about the goals you set.
Setting ourselves goals in the New Year is something that most of us do in the form of new year’s resolutions. But it doesn’t always have to be the case that you need to put pressure on yourself. You can, of course, make some realistic goals for yourself that will help you feel positive and like you are doing the best you can. Setting realistic goals, with small challenges in between each one, can help you become much more productive and feel great about your achievements quickly. Any efforts in the right direction that will help you are to be admired, and you should always feel proud of every small achievement. If you didn’t quite meet all of your goals this year, then just look back and work out how well you have done with what you have been dealt with this year. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having new goals because life doesn’t always go in a linear direction. We can be thrown off course quite quickly, but as long as we continue in the right direction, we can be proud of ourselves. Goal Setting around health and well-being are some of the most significant “resolutions“ that most people set in January, but remember to be realistic and small changes, in the end, add up.
Documenting our lives seems to be only done for social media these days, and for people to share with friends and family. Still, as we get older, we really enjoyed looking back on what we have done in previous years, what we have overcome, and what we have achieved. So documenting your day-to-day life, whether it’s shared on social media or not, will really help you in the future to remember the good times, and show you how far you have come through thick and thin. Many people do this for their children, but why not do this for yourself? And maybe start writing a blog to help you document things like this one Seeing The World Whilst You’re Young: A Guide. It only goes to show how much we enjoyed reminiscing, as when we visit all the relatives, we find ourselves digging out the old photographs, and enjoying the pictures of our relatives and passed times. We don’t realize how important these photos/ videos are until further down the line. As much as you may hate being in front of the camera, it’s important to document everything you can. Your older self will thank you for it!
Planning to spend quality time with family and friends is a beautiful plan to make, and certainly, something that we could all do with arranging more often. If you are planning on adding this to your new year’s plans, then it’s a great idea to be realistic. Everybody leads busy lives. However, we make time for the things that we want to do the most and if you plan in advance and follow through on your promises you will find some wonderful quality time with your family and friends isn’t so difficult after all. Most of us say we are busy, but is this something you could give up to help you with this particular plan? Most people will find that they spend a little too much time watching TV, or on social media, and not enough time actually doing things with the people we love. A great idea is to plan an hour once a fortnight or whatever you can commit to and stick to it. These plans then become a habit, and before long, you will have formed a new tradition with those people that you do want to spend your time with. It doesn’t take a tremendous amount of effort, but it will really help strengthen your bond with those people you want to spend time with, and you will feel a great sense of achievement in the fact that you have set yourself a target and benefit from following it through.
Of course, we will work hard, and no doubt we are all a little bit tired from the year just gone, it may have been a little bit of a roller coaster for you as it has been for many, but whether you are working your way up the career ladder, or have decided to become self-employed and need to work hard to get your business off the ground, it’s something that everybody has to do to get ahead. Working for yourself or somebody else is always going to pay off when you put in a lot of effort. You do Obviously need to balance this carefully, and all work but no play isn’t great for anybody, but in the hours that you do have to work, always go in that little step extra, and ensuring that you are doing your best, will show you a great results by the end of the year. Being a little more organised, and using some tools to help you with your endeavours, is going to be a great idea. It’s never a bad idea to put in all your effort and get your rewards for it.
