If you’ve recently become engaged, you’ll probably want to have a party where you can celebrate with your nearest and dearest. Gathering your friends and family together to share in your good news, is traditional after all, but that doesn’t mean your engagement party has to be a traditional affair too.
Showing off engagement rings, introducing other half’s to members of the family you haven’t seen in a while and getting more than a bit tipsy might be part and parcel of the typical engagement party experience, but it is possible to inject a greater element of fun into the proceedings with some of the following engagement party games:
A How Well Do You Known the Engaged Couple Quiz
Before the party, put together a list of around 20 questions about you and your intended, including things like your favorite foods, how you met, your favorite movie, etc., and bring along enough pens and paper for all of your guests. Read out the questions and see which guest knows the most about the pair of you. Remember to reward the winner with a small token or, even better, free beer for the night.
Put all of your guest’s names into a hat and line up a karaoke playlist of the most popular wedding dance songs. For each song, draw a name out of the hat and have that person get up on stage and sing that song. You’ll have a great time laughing at Aunt Marie’s terrible version of My Heart Will Go On and you might eve n be surprised by how well your other half can sing when put on the spot.
Bingo is always a lot of fun, and it is a game that can be so easily personalized that it is perfect for all manner of occasions, including engagement parties. To make your game of bingo engagement-related, instead of using numbers, fill your board with photos of you and your spouse, along with the honeymoon location, your ring, family members and friends, the date you met, the date of your engagement, etc. Once a player gets a full row, give them a party favor.
Who is the Famous Couple?
Another great game that’s perfect for engagement parties and bachelorette parties is the famous couple guessing game. All you need to do is have all of your guests write down the names of ten celebrity couples. Partner up all of your guests and have one of the team pick out a couple. The other person must then try to guess who the couple is by asking a series of yes or no questions. It’s more difficult than you might think, especially if you set a timer.
Mr and Mrs
Mr and Mrs is a British TV show where couples must correctly answer questions about their other half. Questions can range from their favorite movie to what they most love about their other half. Get a few of the couple’s in your party to answer 10-20 questions and see if their spouse knows as much about them as they think.
